Our Project Management group in the Information Technology unit is looking for the right candidate to join our team as a Project Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and leading enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives.  Our Project Managers lead a variety of different types of projects including launching new products and services, large-scale application development, system integrations, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and infrastructure upgrades and deployments. 
You will be responsible for managing the work integration, scope, expectations, quality, time, cost, risk, human resources, procurement and communications for the team. Your primary measure of success will be on how you positively impact the organization by effectively leading and delivering projects with positive stakeholder feedback.

To Qualify:
  • Bachelor’s degree (prefer: Information Technology, Business or Communications) and 5+ years of Project Management experience.
  • This experience should include leading large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and matrix partners, working with key stakeholders, motivating teams, setting direction, resolving conflicts, delivering tough messages, and executing with ambiguity.
  • The ideal candidate should have solid influencing skills,sound business and technical acumen and the ability to navigate a matrixed organization effectively
  • Exemplary core project management skills including all aspects of the PMBOK
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management and SDLC methodologies and tools

Project Manager 3

Oversees and manages all activities related to assigned projects, with primary responsibility for ensuring that the team meets client expectations on-time and on-budget.  Manages the work integration, scope, expectations, quality, time, cost, risk, human resources, procurement, and communications for the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  All functions listed below are important.  Given the assignments of an individual within this role  the frequency in which these functions are performed will vary from individual to individual.  NOTE:  An asterisk (*) indicates functions that are non-essential.  All other functions are “absolutely necessary for this job”.
  • Prior to a project being prioritized, as assigned, helps define the project opportunity (scope, assumptions, resource needs, expected benefits and costs, risks, etc.).
  • Refines the information pertaining to a project opportunity once the project has been prioritized – including the scope, assumptions, business case, and resource needs.  Develops project plans, timetables, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identifies and defines the knowledge and skills required on the team and the appropriate division of team roles and responsibilities.
  • Identifies appropriate project team members, including IT representatives, client representatives, and external resources.  Makes the final decision with regard to their participation and role on the project.
  • Negotiates vendor contracts for 3rd parties that work under the primary direction of the project manager.
  • Develops team orientation materials, clarifies performance expectations and develops/refines team procedures.  Reviews these with team members.
  • Ensures that team logistics and facilities are prepared.
  • Manages relationships, communications, and expectations with the project executive, steering committee and/or other stakeholders.
  • Provides formalized, continuing work direction and leadership to the team.  Manages the work distribution, scope, timetables and priorities of the work effort required to complete a project.
  • Tracks, monitors, and communicates project progress against the project plan, requirements, quality measures, procedures and milestones.
  • Provides just-in-time training to team members.
  • Guides and coaches project team members in the identification, development, and completion of project deliverables.  Oversees deliverable quality, consistency, and adherence to standards.
  • Integrates project activities with other department projects.
  • Works to remove barriers (political or other) and helps to facilitate the change process associated with a project.  Manages key risks to the project’s success by identifying, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Provides performance feedback to all project team members assigned to the project.
  • Supports the collection of lessons learned and knowledge management/transfer across the organization.
  • Promotes adherence to standardized IT  processes, strategic principles, and architectural standards.
  • Actively shares knowledge with other IT  members and improves the tools and processes used by project management group.
 (*) Performs other functions as assigned and actively participates in special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Information Technology, Business or Communications) and five (5) years of professional work experience OR ten (10) years of combined experience in information technology or insurance/business;   Demonstrated experience working on projects, designing solutions, and handling direct client/customer contact; Proven experience leading a sub task of a project; Ability to assign, guide and monitor the work of others;  Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication abilities, including effective presentation skills; Knowledge of business processes and their interrelationships

  • Have delivered multiple projects of various solution delivery types including complex and risky projects
  • Are proficient in project management, client relationship management and technology acumen and skilled in business acumen and client business activities
  • Lead projects while making significant contributions to the unit, department and /or corporate initiatives
  • Add value to Westfield through thought leadership and mentoring others
